The SGC Development Control (West) Committee have given their approval for a Rail Mainteance Depot and Sidings to be built in Stoke Gifford opening the door to electrification of the main line between Bristol, London and South Wales.
In a meeting held on Thursday afternoon at the Council Offices in Thornbury, a lengthy debate took place to discuss the application before a decision of approval was reached.
A representative of Hitachi confirmed that a Resident Liaison Group would be established to monitor the site following a number of concerns from local residents during the application progress. It is anticipated that this group will be established sometime in June 2012 and the Parish Council will keep residents informed regarding any developments.
